ABOUT THIS WINE
Marqués de Cáceres Crianza is a red wine from the D.O.Ca. Rioja, Spain, produced by Bodegas Marqués de Cáceres. Primarily crafted from Tempranillo, with contributions from Garnacha Tinta and Graciano, the grapes are sourced from old vines in the Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa sub-regions. The winery was founded in 1970 by Enrique Forner, who aimed to integrate French winemaking techniques with Rioja's indigenous varietals. The Forner family, now led by fifth-generation Cristina Forner, maintains a commitment to producing authentic and high-quality wines. The 2021 vintage experienced higher rainfall but benefited from a favorable late harvest period, contributing to the wine's balance.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Marqués de Cáceres Crianza is produced using hand-harvested grapes from old vines. The bunches are destemmed before undergoing alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperatures. Maceration with skins can extend up to 20 days to maximize extraction. Malolactic fermentation occurs in both new oak barrels and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 12 months in 60% French oak and 40% American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of one year of bottle aging.
