ABOUT THIS WINE
Bodegas Martín Códax was founded in 1986 as a cooperative of 270 local winegrowing families in the Val do Salnés sub-region of Rías Baixas, Galicia. Named after the legendary 13th-century Galician troubadour whose medieval love poems sang of the wild Atlantic sea, the winery has grown to represent over 550 families managing approximately 1,400 small parcels. Under the guidance of pioneering winemakers, the cooperative has become a benchmark for the region, championing sustainable viticulture and community-driven production. The 2024 vintage represents a classic expression of this maritime terroir, where cool ocean breezes and granitic soils shape the character of the Albariño grape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are cultivated using the traditional Galician emparrado (pergola) trellising system, which elevates the canopy off the damp ground to maximize airflow and solar exposure in the humid maritime climate. Harvesting is carried out entirely by hand. In the cellar, fermentation takes place strictly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve the primary fruit characteristics and fresh profile of the Albariño grape. To maintain the wine's natural, vibrant acidity, it does not undergo malolactic fermentation. It is bottled fresh without oak treatment or extensive aging, preserving its youthful character.
