ABOUT THIS WINE
The Martires 2016 is a white wine from Finca Allende, produced from 100% Viura grapes grown in the single vineyard 'Finca Mártires' in Rioja Alta. The vineyard, planted in 1970, features clay-loam and sandy loam soils at an elevation of 400-450 meters. Finca Allende, founded by Miguel Ángel de Gregorio, is known for its commitment to terroir-driven winemaking and the exploration of indigenous grape varieties. This wine is a testament to the potential of old-vine Viura from a specific parcel.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Martires 2016 begins with a gentle pressing of the Viura grapes, followed by a 48-hour static settling of the must. Fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels over about 24 days at 20°C, with indigenous yeasts used in some vintages. The wine then ages for nine months in new French oak, with four of those months spent on lees, including regular battonage. The harvest is manual, with subsequent manual selection of bunches, and sustainable viticultural practices are employed.
