ABOUT THIS WINE
Celler Cal Pla is a historic family-run estate located in the village of Porrera, within the prestigious Priorat appellation of Catalonia, Spain. The family has been growing grapes and making wine here since 1814, spanning many generations. 'Mas d'en Compte' is one of their flagship labels, representing the unique, rugged terroir of Porrera. The vineyards are planted on steep, terraced slopes composed of the region's famous 'llicorella' (slate) soils. These ancient soils, combined with the extreme continental-mediterranean climate, naturally limit yields, resulting in grapes of extraordinary concentration, depth, and mineral character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for Mas d'en Compte are hand-harvested from old vines, some of which are over 60 years old. After careful sorting, the grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and concrete vats. The wine is then aged for approximately 12 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels (both new and second-use) to integrate the intense fruit flavors with subtle oak spices, followed by further refinement in the bottle before release.
