ABOUT THIS WINE
Mas Donís Negre is a red wine from Celler de Capçanes, located in the D.O. Montsant region of Catalunya, Spain. Produced from a blend of Garnacha, Syrah, Merlot, and Tempranillo, this 'Joven' (young) wine is crafted to be fresh and fruit-forward, eschewing oak aging for a pure expression of its varietal and regional character. The winery, Celler de Capçanes, has a history dating back to 1933 and is known for its commitment to quality, including its pioneering work with Kosher wines. The 2021 vintage benefited from a cooler growing season, contributing to the wine's freshness. The vineyards are situated on varied terroirs, from alluvial soils to stony slopes, adding depth to the wine's profile. Mas Donís Negre aims to provide an accessible and enjoyable taste of Montsant.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Mas Donís Negre is produced by Celler de Capçanes in the D.O. Montsant. The winemaking process begins with the separate vinification of its four grape varieties: Garnacha, Syrah, Merlot, and Tempranillo. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks over 8-10 days at 22-25°C. This is followed by malolactic fermentation, also conducted in tanks. To maintain its fresh and fruity profile, the wine undergoes no oak aging and is instead matured in tanks. This approach is designed to showcase the purity of the fruit and the regional character of Montsant.
