ABOUT THIS WINE
Masi Campofiorin 2021 is a Rosso del Veronese IGT from the Veneto region, crafted by Masi Agricola. First produced in 1964, it is recognized as the original 'Supervenetian' wine, designed to showcase a new category of wines inspired by the Amarone production method. Masi revived the technique of a second fermentation using semi-dried grapes, a process they have since mastered. The wine originates from vineyards in the hilly areas around Verona, where the terroir is well-suited to expressing native grape varieties. The Boscaini family has owned the Masi estate since the late 18th century, contributing to its legacy of innovation and expertise in Venetian winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Masi Campofiorin 2021 is produced using a double fermentation technique. The initial fermentation creates a standard red wine. Subsequently, a portion of grapes that have undergone partial drying (appassimento) for about six weeks is added for a second fermentation. This process lasts approximately 15 days at temperatures between 18-20°C. The addition of these semi-dried grapes increases the wine's alcohol content, color intensity, and extracts, while softening the tannins. The wine then undergoes aging for a minimum of 18 months, with two-thirds in large Slavonian oak barrels and one-third in new Allier and Slavonian barrels, followed by three months of bottle aging.
