ABOUT THIS WINE
Masi Riserva Costasera Amarone Classico 2018 is an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG from the Veneto region, produced by Masi Agricola. The wine is a blend primarily of Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara, with the addition of Oseleta. Masi is renowned for its expertise in the Appassimento technique, where grapes are dried to concentrate their flavors. The 'Costasera' name signifies the west-facing slopes of the Valpolicella Classica area, which receive abundant sunlight. The winery, established in 1772, is managed by the seventh generation of the Boscaini family, who are dedicated to Italian viticulture and have played a role in rediscovering the Oseleta grape.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Masi Riserva Costasera Amarone Classico begins with the Appassimento technique, where grapes are dried on racks for several months to concentrate their flavors and sugars. This process is followed by fermentation. The wine is then aged for a minimum of three years in large wooden casks, with specific mention of 600-liter barrels made from French and Slavonian oak, one-third of which are new. A further minimum of six months of bottle aging is completed before release. Masi also emphasizes the use of indigenous grape varieties, including the rediscovered Oseleta.
