ABOUT THIS WINE
Matané Primitivo Puglia IGT is a red wine from Puglia, Italy, crafted by the Empson family under the Matané brand, founded in 2008. The name 'Matané' is a portmanteau of the family members' names: Maria, Tara, and Neil. The wine is made from 100% Primitivo grapes grown in the Salento peninsula of Puglia. Since 2018, Matané wines have been estate-grown and bottled at Cantine Paradiso. The brand's philosophy, developed in collaboration with winemaker Teo D'Apolito, aims to showcase the potential of Southern Italian grapes with a focus on balanced and expressive styles. The label art for Matané wines pays homage to the Salento region by depicting the 'pizzica,' a traditional local dance with ancient connections to Dionysus, the god of wine, and often includes a poem celebrating harvest time.

Following fermentation, the wine is aged primarily in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fresh fruit profile. This approach focuses on showcasing the varietal character and regional expression in a balanced and accessible style.
