ABOUT THIS WINE
Matteria Viñas Viejas Yaso is a red wine from the D.O. Toro region of Spain, produced by Compañía de Viñedos Iberian S.L. The wine is made exclusively from Tinta de Toro grapes sourced from vineyards over a century old, located in El Pego and Valdefinjas. These ancient vines grow in poor, sandy soils with pebbles. The name 'Matteria' translates to 'substance' or 'material,' reflecting the wine's character. This wine is considered one of the producer's most exclusive offerings, with an annual production not exceeding 8,000 bottles. It represents the culmination of 15 years of dedicated study and research into the finest vineyards within the Toro appellation.

The winemaking process for Matteria Viñas Viejas Yaso begins with the selection of grapes from old Tinta de Toro vines. Fermentation takes place over 12 days in 5,000-liter stainless steel tanks at 25°C, followed by an extended maceration period of 21 days with the grape skins. Following fermentation and maceration, the wine is aged for 28 months in French oak barrels. Production is managed to keep annual volumes below 8,000 bottles.
