ABOUT THIS WINE
The Ministry of Clouds Grenache Carignan 2021 is an Australian red wine from McLaren Vale, South Australia. It is a blend of Grenache and Carignan, with the Grenache sourced from old bush vines over 80 years old and the Carignan from an adjacent estate vineyard. The wine is inspired by the style of Spanish wines from Priorat. Ministry of Clouds was founded by Bernice Ong and Julian Forwood, who sought to create wines that are 'nourishing to the soul' and versatile with food, focusing on nuance and integrity from low-yielding, dry-grown vineyards.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Ministry of Clouds Grenache Carignan 2021 is produced using fruit from old bush vine Grenache and estate Carignan vineyards in McLaren Vale. The grapes are hand-harvested from low-yielding, dry-grown vineyards. Vinification involves fermentation in traditional open vats using indigenous yeasts, with a mixture of single-variety and co-ferments. Varying degrees of whole bunch are included, and maceration can last up to 4-5 weeks to build complexity. The wine is worked very gently and basket pressed. It is then matured for about 10 months in old French oak puncheons before being bottled unfined but filtered.
