ABOUT THIS WINE
Ruffino's Modus Primo Toscana IGT 2019 is a Super Tuscan red wine that represents a contemporary winemaking approach from the historic Ruffino estate. It is a blend of Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon, originating from three distinct vineyards on Ruffino's Poggio Casciano Estate, situated at elevations between 290 to 450 meters with clay, limestone, and gravel soils. The wine is a testament to the estate's terroir and Ruffino's commitment to showcasing the excellence of Tuscan winemaking. Ruffino, founded in 1877, has a long history of innovation and quality, having been the first to import Chianti to the United States. The winery is now owned by the Folonari family and manages six prestigious estates across Tuscany. Modus Primo embodies a harmonious marriage of international winemaking styles with a distinct Tuscan identity, particularly through the inclusion of Sangiovese.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Ruffino Modus Primo Toscana IGT 2019 involves a meticulous process designed to capture the essence of its varietals and terroir. Alcoholic fermentation is conducted in stainless steel vats. Maceration on skins is carefully managed, with Sangiovese undergoing 15 days, Merlot 20 days, and Cabernet Sauvignon 25 days, allowing for tailored extraction from each grape. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 18 months in new French oak barrels. This aging period is crucial for developing complexity, softening tannins, and integrating the wine's structure. The grapes are sourced from three distinct vineyards on Ruffino's Poggio Casciano Estate, which utilizes organic viticulture practices.
