ABOUT THIS WINE
Vinícola Monte Castelo was founded in 2016 by four close friends who sought to explore the winemaking potential of the Brazilian Cerrado (Savannah). Located in Jaraguá, within the Anápolis microregion of Goiás, the estate has become a pioneer of high-altitude viticulture in Central Brazil. By utilizing innovative agricultural techniques, they have successfully established a boutique winery that crafts highly acclaimed, limited-production wines that showcase the unique terroir of this non-traditional wine-growing region.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The wine is produced using the innovative 'double pruning' (dupla poda) method, which shifts the vegetative cycle so that harvesting occurs during the dry winter months. Grapes are hand-harvested in small crates and undergo strict temperature-controlled fermentation. The 2022 vintage was aged for 8 months on its fine lees, followed by 12 months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, and finished with 6 months of bottle aging before release. The process is overseen by consultant Chilean winemaker Cristian Sepúlveda.
