ABOUT THIS WINE
Monte Velho White, produced by Herdade do Esporão in Portugal's Alentejo region, is a Vinho Regional Alentejano. First released in 1992, its name originates from a hill on the estate. The wine was conceived with the same quality ethos as the Esporão Reserva but intended for more casual, daily consumption. Herdade do Esporão, with roots tracing back to 1267, is committed to producing fine wines while prioritizing environmental stewardship and a sustainable future. The 2021 vintage was influenced by a wet and mild growing season, promoting balanced grape maturation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Monte Velho White 2021 involves destemming the grapes, followed by a thermal shock to preserve freshness. The must is then decanted before fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. Post-fermentation, the wine undergoes centrifugation, stabilization, and filtration to ensure clarity and stability. Winemakers David Baverstock and Sandra Alves oversee this process, aiming for a wine that is fresh, balanced, and representative of the Alentejo region. The wine is bottled in December 2021.
