ABOUT THIS WINE
Montecito 2020 is a 100% Garnacha Tinta from the Campo de Borja DO in Aragón, Spain. The wine's name, meaning 'little mountain,' is a personal nod from winemaker Michael Cooper to his Californian hometown. Cooper, an American who moved to Spain, established Vinos del Viento with a mission to discover and nurture high-altitude, old-vine, dry-farmed vineyards. The estate's vineyards are situated at the base of the Moncayo and Sistema Ibérico mountain ranges, on calcareous clay soils. This wine represents a commitment to minimal intervention winemaking and expressing the unique terroir of Aragón.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Montecito 2020 is produced using 100% Garnacha Tinta grapes from old, dry-farmed vines. The winemaking process emphasizes minimal intervention. Fermentation occurs in oak, utilizing indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with 70% of the wine undergoing this process. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered. Vinos del Viento also implements sustainability practices such as using lightweight, recycled bottles and operating the winery with 100% renewable energy.
