ABOUT THIS WINE
Domaine Jean Foillard, led by Jean, Agnès, and their son Alex, is a celebrated producer in Morgon, Beaujolais. Jean Foillard is a key figure in the 'Gang of Four,' winemakers who revitalized Beaujolais in the 1980s by championing natural winemaking principles inspired by Jules Chauvet. They moved away from mass-produced Beaujolais Nouveau towards artisanal, low-intervention methods, including extended cold maceration and unfiltered aging. The Morgon Classique is the estate's introductory cuvée, showcasing Foillard's signature purity, silky texture, and terroir expression in a youthful and approachable style.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The 2024 Morgon Classique is crafted using 100% whole-cluster vinification with no destemming. Maceration involves cold carbonic or semi-carbonic methods at 4°C–7°C for 3 to 4 weeks. Fermentation relies exclusively on indigenous yeasts, with no chaptalization or added SO2 during this stage. The wine is aged for approximately 4 to 9 months in neutral stainless steel tanks, large neutral wooden foudres, and used Burgundian oak barrels, ensuring no new oak influence. It is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with minimal sulfur dioxide added just prior to bottling.
