ABOUT THIS WINE
Oyster River Winegrowers, founded in 2007 by Brian Smith and his wife Allie in Warren, Maine, operates with a pre-industrial, holistic philosophy. Managing their estate vineyards with draft horse power and hand labor, they focus on low-intervention farming. Morphos, first released in 2012, has become a benchmark for American pét-nat, showcasing a raw, living expression of the Northeast's cool-climate hybrid grapes.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Sourced from organically farmed hybrid grapes in the Finger Lakes, the fruit is hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented using only native yeasts in an unheated barn cellar. Bottled during the final stages of active fermentation without fining, filtration, or added sulfur, the natural carbon dioxide is trapped inside, creating a gentle, cloudy effervescence on its fine lees.
