ABOUT THIS WINE
The Moscatel do Douro 1999 Colheita from Adega Cooperativa de Favaios is a fortified wine from the Douro DOC. It was created from selected grapes and aged in old oak barrels. This particular bottling is part of a commemorative blend that included harvests from seven different decades, with 1999 being one of the chosen years. Adega Cooperativa de Favaios, founded in 1952, is a cooperative of wine growers dedicated to producing Moscatel de Favaios, and it is now one of Portugal's largest producers of this wine. The region of Favaios, known as the 'Moscatel capital,' is located on a plateau over 600 meters above sea level, where the unique terroir contributes to the grape's characteristics.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
This Moscatel do Douro is produced by selecting grapes and aging the resulting wine in old oak barrels. The winemaking process involves a traditional fermentation that is stopped midway through by the addition of grape brandy. This technique is used to preserve the natural sweetness of the grapes and to increase the alcohol content of the wine. The aging in oak casks allows the wine to develop its complex flavor profile and color.
