ABOUT THIS WINE
Muga Rosado 2023 is a rosé wine from Bodegas Muga, a family winery established in 1932 in Spain's D.O.Ca. Rioja. Primarily made from Garnacha and Viura grapes, with a smaller proportion of Tempranillo, this wine is distinguished by its production methods. The vineyards are located in the Alto Najerilla and upper Valle del Oja, featuring old, low-yielding bush vines grown on calcareous clay and ferrous clay soils. Bodegas Muga is recognized for its commitment to traditional winemaking, and their rosé is specifically designated for its production, undergoing barrel fermentation and aging on lees, setting it apart as a complex, gastronomic rosé.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Muga Rosado 2023 is produced using grapes from vineyards in Rioja. Following manual harvesting, the grapes undergo a light maceration, typically lasting around 5 to 12 hours. The resulting must is then fermented at a controlled temperature of 16-18°C for 15-20 days, with some fermentation occurring in small oak vats. A key aspect of its production is the aging process, where the wine remains in contact with its fine lees for 16 weeks. This sur-lie aging, often involving regular stirring, contributes to the wine's smoothness and palate length. Before bottling, the wine undergoes cold stabilization.
