ABOUT THIS WINE
The Müller-Ruprecht Pet-Nat Rouge is a naturally produced sparkling red wine from Germany's Pfalz region. Produced by Weingut Müller-Ruprecht, an estate with a history stretching back to 1702, the wine is crafted by the current generation of winemakers, Sabine and Philippe Wöhrwag. It is made from 100% Dornfelder grapes grown in Kallstadt, a sub-region known for its winemaking heritage. The wine is produced using the Pétillant Naturel method, a traditional technique involving in-bottle fermentation. The estate's vineyards are certified organic, and the winemaking philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention. The wine has gained attention for its unique character and playful branding, including the nickname "vampire soda."

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Müller-Ruprecht Pet-Nat Rouge is produced using the ancestral method, also known as Pétillant Naturel. The 100% Dornfelder grapes undergo a 10-day carbonic maceration before fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks with indigenous wild yeasts. The wine is bottled before the primary fermentation is finished, allowing natural carbonation to develop in the bottle. Following the Pét-Nat tradition, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with no sulfur dioxide added. This minimal intervention approach aims to showcase the purity of the fruit and the natural character of the wine.
