ABOUT THIS WINE
Quinta do Portal is a family-owned boutique winery located in the mountainous Pinhão River Valley of the Douro region in Northern Portugal. While the Mansilha family has a rich history of crafting Port wines dating back to 1881, they were early pioneers in the creation of modern, elegant, and dry still table wines in the Douro starting in 1994. The estate's vineyards are situated at varying elevations, averaging around 380 meters, which helps preserve freshness in the grapes. The 2024 vintage benefited from a remarkably long vegetative growth cycle, allowing the traditional Portuguese varieties to achieve complete and balanced physiological ripening.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this vintage is led by chief winemaker Tiago Machado. Grapes are hand-harvested and transported to the winery in small boxes to prevent bruising. To respect the delicate raw fruit, the winery utilizes a gravity-flow design and minimal mechanical intervention. Fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats at 24 to 26 degrees Celsius. To balance fresh fruit character with structural complexity, 25% of the blend is aged for 9 months in used French oak barrels, while the remaining 75% is kept in stainless steel vats before final blending and bottling.
