ABOUT THIS WINE
The Blankbottle My Koffer 2022 is a 100% Cinsault red wine from the Breedekloof region of South Africa. The wine's name, 'My Koffer,' translates to 'suitcase' in Afrikaans, representing the winemaker's personal connection and memories associated with the Breedekloof and the farming family from whom the grapes are sourced. Blankbottle Winery, founded by Pieter Walser, is known for its unconventional approach to winemaking, often producing limited, single-vineyard or single-varietal wines that tell a story of their origin. The grapes for this wine come from raised bush vines located on the valley floor of the Breedekloof. This wine is characterized by its elegant femininity and a surprisingly intense personality.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Blankbottle My Koffer 2022 begins with grapes cooled overnight to 4°C. They are then hand-sorted and transferred to tanks with 30% whole bunches, with the remainder de-stemmed. Spontaneous fermentation occurs in open-top fermenters with a single punchdown per day, lasting for 2-3 weeks. Following fermentation, the wine is pressed into older French oak barrels and aged for 8 months on the lees. The wine has an alcohol by volume of 13%, with an acidity of 5.03 g/l, residual sugar of 1.19 g/l, and a pH of 3.62.
