ABOUT THIS WINE
Nach by Milan Nestarec is a vibrant red wine from Moravia, Czech Republic, crafted by the dynamic young winemaker Milan Nestarec. This wine is a heartfelt tribute to traditional Moravian reds, known for their light body, juicy character, and refreshing acidity. Milan Nestarec, who took over his family's winemaking at the age of 16, created Nach as a deliberate rebellion against the trend of heavy, oaked red wines that gained popularity in the Czech Republic after 1989. The name "Nach" itself translates to "purple" in old formal Czech, hinting at its lively hue. Distinctively, the wine is bottled in a 1-liter format, a charming nod to the "másnica," a traditional 1-liter bottle historically used by field workers. This choice underscores its identity as an unpretentious, everyday wine meant for enjoyment with food and friends, embodying Nestarec's philosophy of creating wines that reflect his worldview and the authentic spirit of Moravia.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Milan Nestarec's Nach is produced with a strong commitment to natural winemaking principles. The grapes are sourced from estate-owned vineyards in Velké Bílovice and Moravský Žižkov, where organic farming practices have been in place since 2008, achieving certification in 2022. Vines, ranging from 6 to 21 years old, thrive in loess, clay, and sand soils. Grapes are hand-harvested to ensure optimal quality. In the cellar, vinification is low-intervention: grapes are destemmed, gently crushed, and undergo spontaneous fermentation. For the 2022 vintage, the wine macerated on skins for a couple of weeks before being aged for six months in large format neutral oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered, with little to no sulfur added, preserving its natural character and expression.
