ABOUT THIS WINE
Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port 2021 is a highly sought-after fortified wine from Portugal's Douro Valley. Produced by Quinta do Noval-Vinhos, S.A., it originates from a unique 2-hectare plot of ungrafted vines, a rare survival from before the phylloxera epidemic. These vines, planted with traditional Portuguese varieties, grow on their own rootstock in the estate's schistous soil. The wine is a symbol of Portuguese viticultural heritage and a testament to the producer's dedication to estate-grown grapes and traditional winemaking.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes for the Quinta do Noval Nacional Vintage Port are hand-harvested from the estate's unique ungrafted vines. They are then traditionally trodden by foot in stone lagares to extract color and flavor. Fermentation is stopped by the addition of grape spirit. Following this, the wine is aged for 18 months in seasoned oak and chestnut wood vats of 2,500 liters before bottling. The 2021 vintage benefited from a cool growing season, allowing for slow ripening and balanced grape development.
