ABOUT THIS WINE
Naranjo 2021 is an orange wine from the Maule Valley, Chile, produced by Vino y Turismo del Maule Salvaje SPA, an entity linked to Viña González Bastías. The wine is a blend of Pink Moscatel (40%), Torontel (40%), and País (20%). The grapes are sourced from vines exceeding 200 years of age, cultivated on riverbanks with soils of river stones over granite. The winemaking philosophy emphasizes natural, minimal intervention practices, including the use of sheep for fertilization and horse plowing. The vineyard benefits from a Mediterranean climate and ocean breezes. The name 'Naranjo' refers to its production method, where white grapes are fermented with their skins.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Naranjo 2021 wine is produced using skin contact fermentation for 30 days in open cement containers with wild yeast. The grapes are manually crushed using a traditional bamboo rug, and daily punch-downs are performed. Only the first juice is taken, without pressing. The wine is then aged for six months in refurbished Chilean Rauli Fudres and clay amphoras. The winemaking process adheres to minimal intervention principles, with a focus on natural farming and ancestral techniques. Low sulfite levels are maintained, with less than 10 mg/L added in some instances.
