ABOUT THIS WINE
Nat.Cool Vinho Branco 2024 is a white wine from Portugal's Vinho Verde region, produced by Anselmo & Dirk Niepoort Lda. This wine is part of the Nat Cool project, which focuses on creating fun, affordable, and approachable natural wines. The project aims to evoke the style of 'cloudy' wines from the past, which were bottled with residual sugar and fine lees, leading to re-fermentation in the bottle. The wine is described as having a 'cool and funky' character and a 'glou-glou' style, emphasizing minimal intervention in its production. Niepoort is a historic winery founded in 1842, with Dirk Niepoort being a prominent figure in contemporary Portuguese winemaking known for his innovative approach.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Nat.Cool Vinho Branco 2024 is produced using minimal intervention winemaking techniques. The grapes are hand-harvested from vines typically 25-30 years old, grown under organic farming practices. Fermentation begins in stainless steel tanks and continues in the bottle, with a small amount of residual sugar retained to promote a light spritz and effervescence. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in the bottle. The wine is intentionally not clarified or filtered, resulting in a cloudy appearance. Aging occurs for 3 to 6 months in stainless steel tanks. The overall approach emphasizes natural processes and a 'glou-glou' style.
