ABOUT THIS WINE
The Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC from Pier Giorgio Savigliano is a red wine from the Piedmont region of Italy, specifically the Alba sub-region. The producer, Pier Giorgio Savigliano, emphasizes a winemaking philosophy rooted in tradition and a deep connection to the land, utilizing carefully selected vines from privileged vineyard sites. The Nebbiolo grape itself is known for its finesse and elegance, with its name potentially derived from the Italian word for fog, 'nebbia,' reflecting its late ripening cycle. The sandy soils characteristic of the Nebbiolo d'Alba region contribute to wines that are often softer and more approachable.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC is produced from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. Following harvest, typically in mid-October, the grapes undergo alcoholic fermentation in steel tanks for about a month. Post-fermentation, the wine is aged in large wooden casks. Nebbiolo d'Alba wines require a minimum of one year of aging. For Nebbiolo d'Alba Superiore, the aging process involves wood for 24 months followed by 6 months in bottle. The 2015 vintage was released in 2018.
