WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Niepoort Vintage Port 2019 is produced using traditional winemaking techniques. Grapes are 100% destemmed and then trodden by foot in granite lagares to extract color, tannins, and aromas. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 21 months in large Portuguese oak vats (tonel). The harvest for the 2019 vintage began on September 2nd, influenced by a cool summer and beneficial late August rains. Niepoort Vinhos employs organic farming practices and incorporates some biodynamic principles in its vineyard management.
