ABOUT THIS WINE
João M Barbosa NINFA Escolha 2016 is a red wine from the Tejo region of Portugal, produced by João Teodósio M. Barbosa. It is a blend of Alfrocheiro and Touriga Nacional grapes. The producer's project emphasizes low intervention and organic production, aiming for wines that are authentic to their terroir. The Tejo region's climate, characterized by a significant temperature range and sun exposure, along with clay-limestone soils, contributes to concentrated grapes with good acidity potential. The 2016 vintage was noted for its balance between grape maturation and acidity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for João M Barbosa NINFA Escolha 2016 begins with selected bunches being transported by gravity to a closed stainless steel press for pre-fermentation maceration. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes aging for over 10 months in 225-liter French oak barrels. The grapes are sourced from vineyards situated in an area with clay-limestone soils, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence, which promotes low yields and concentrated fruit with good acidity potential. The alcohol by volume is 12.5%.
