ABOUT THIS WINE
O Gran Mein Blanco 2021 is a white wine from Viña Mein in the Ribeiro appellation of Galicia, Spain. It is a blend of Treixadura, Godello, Albariño, Loureira, Torrontés, Caíño Blanco, and Lado, representing the biodiversity of the region. The wine aims to express the historical winemaking character of the Avia Valley, where wine has been produced since 1158. Viña Mein, now part of the Alma Carraovejas group, focuses on artisanal wines from indigenous varieties, with winemaker Rodrigo Méndez associated with the project. The wine's complexity arises from the separate vinification of each grape variety before blending, showcasing the unique terroir of the Avia Valley.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for O Gran Mein Blanco involves the separate fermentation of each of its seven indigenous Galician grape varieties. Fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel, concrete, and oak vats, allowing for diverse textural and aromatic development. Following fermentation, the wine undergoes a year of aging on its lees. This 'sur lie' aging contributes to the wine's complexity and structure. The final blend is then assembled to create the finished wine.
