ABOUT THIS WINE
Oakridge Wines, established in 1978 in Coldstream, is a pioneer of the Yarra Valley's modern wine renaissance. Under the guidance of Chief Winemaker David Bicknell, Oakridge has become synonymous with elegant, terroir-driven wines. The Vineyard Series explores the unique geography of the region. Sourced from the Willowlake Vineyard, first planted in 1992 in the cool, high-elevation sub-region of Gladysdale, this wine reflects the deep, iron-rich red volcanic clay soils of the Upper Yarra. The 2024 vintage benefited from a cool spring followed by a dry, temperate autumn, resulting in balanced crop loads and exceptional natural acidity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for the 2024 vintage highlights a low-intervention philosophy combined with precise technique. The Chardonnay grapes were 100% handpicked and whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation occurred naturally with wild yeasts in 500-liter French oak puncheons. In a significant stylistic shift for this vintage, the wine was transferred out of wood after barrel aging to spend an additional six months on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks. This technique, mirroring Oakridge's flagship '864' Chardonnay, totals 14 months of maturation on lees, preserving pure fruit expression and enhancing structural tension.
