ABOUT THIS WINE
Obecanje, meaning 'promise' in Serbian, is a red wine from the Negotinska Krajna region of Eastern Serbia, produced by French winemakers Estelle and Cyrille Bongiraud. The Bongirauds established their winery, Francuska Vinarija, in Rogljevo, drawn by the region's unique limestone terroir and its rich winemaking history. Their vineyards, revitalized and farmed biodynamically since 2015, are a testament to their commitment to natural and organic practices, aiming for quality over quantity. The wine is a reflection of this philosophy and the distinct character of its Serbian origin, influenced by the winemakers' extensive European experience.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for Obecanje emphasizes natural methods. Grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation, driven by indigenous yeasts, without controlled temperatures. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for about 18 months in used Burgundian oak barrels or old oak vats. The grapes are destemmed but not crushed. Minimal sulfur is added, and the wine is typically unfiltered and unfined, preserving its natural character and integrity.
