ABOUT THIS WINE
Orballo Albariño is a single-varietal wine from Bodegas La Val, a pioneer producer in the Rías Baixas DO of Galicia, Spain. Founded in 1985 and now part of the CVNE group, Bodegas La Val emphasizes estate-grown grapes. The vineyards are located in the O Rosal and Condado do Tea sub-regions, with vines around thirty years old situated on shale soils near the Miño River. Some vineyards utilize pergola training for enhanced air circulation. The name 'Orballo' translates to 'light rain' in Galician, reflecting the wine's inherent freshness. The 2023 vintage experienced a mild, dry winter, impacting soil moisture levels.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Orballo Albariño is produced from 100% Albariño grapes, hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. Fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine is aged briefly on its lees for added texture. It then undergoes a complex aging process in three types of containers: stainless steel vats, concrete eggs, and ceramic vessels. The wine has a pH of 3.35 and a total acidity of 7.5 g/l. A total of 9,850 bottles were produced.
