ABOUT THIS WINE
Org de Rac Organic Wine Estate, situated on the south-facing slopes of the Piketberg Mountain foothills in Swartland, South Africa, is a pioneering force in the country's organic viticulture. Established with a commitment to 100% certified organic farming, the estate avoids chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and synthetic pesticides, relying instead on natural compost, cover crops, and local biodiversity to maintain soil health. The vineyards benefit from ancient, well-draining soils of Malmesbury shale and gravel, which force the vines to dig deep for nutrients. This unique terroir, combined with the cooling influence of the Atlantic Ocean some 50 kilometers away, yields grapes of exceptional concentration and character.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for this organic red blend focuses on preserving the vibrant fruit character of the Swartland terroir while integrating structured complexity. Following a rigorous berry selection at harvest, the Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot grapes undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using selected yeasts. This ensures a clean and expressive fermentation process. After blending, the wine is aged for approximately 14 months in 225-liter oak barrels. This extended wood contact helps to soften the grape tannins, integrate the diverse varietal components, and introduce subtle oak characteristics before bottling.
