ABOUT THIS WINE

The 2023 vintage represents a historic milestone, marking the first complete vintage under the sole direction of Operations Director and Winemaker Marco Balsimelli. Balsimelli, who built his reputation in Bordeaux, brings a refined focus on verticality and understated elegance to this legendary Super Tuscan. This vintage is also celebrated through the estate's Vendemmia d'Artista project, themed La Vitalità (The Vitality), featuring exclusive label artwork by the legendary conceptual performance artist Marina Abramović.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested into small 15 kg crates and undergo a rigorous double manual sorting, enhanced by state-of-the-art optical sorting. Over 70 distinct parcels are vinified separately to preserve micro-terroir variations. Fermentation takes place over two weeks in stainless steel and concrete vats at controlled temperatures (26°C to 30°C), followed by 10 to 15 days of maceration. Malolactic fermentation occurs in stainless steel before the wine is transferred to French oak barriques (60% to 70% new). The wine is aged separately by parcel for 12 months, blended, and aged for another 6 months in barrel (totaling 18 months in oak) before bottling in July 2025.
