ABOUT THIS WINE
First released in 1960, Penfolds Bin 2 is one of the estate's most historic and enduring expressions. Penfolds was established in 1844 at Magill Estate by Dr. Christopher and Mary Penfold. Renowned for pioneering multi-regional blending across South Australia, Penfolds crafts Bin 2 by sourcing grapes from prime vineyards in the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Wrattonbully, and Padthaway. The inclusion of Mataro (Mourvèdre)—a variety grown in Barossa since the 1830s—adds a savoury counterpoint to the plush Shiraz.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The fruit is sourced from multiple regions across South Australia to achieve consistency and balance. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vessels on grape skins prior to maturation. The wine is aged for 11 months in a combination of French oak (9%) and American oak hogsheads before fining and bottling.
