ABOUT THIS WINE
Pequenos Rebentos 'O Caminho' (meaning 'The Path') is a limited-edition white wine crafted by the innovative Portuguese winemaker Márcio Lopes. Sourced from a dedicated old-vine parcel of Alvarinho in the prestigious Monção e Melgaço sub-region of Vinho Verde, this wine represents years of studying local soils, grape varieties, and traditional methods. Lopes, who established his project in 2010, focuses on low-intervention viticulture, working closely with local growers who practice sustainable farming without chemical herbicides. This cuvée challenges the conventional perception of Vinho Verde by offering a structured, complex, and age-worthy expression of Alvarinho that reflects the unique granite soils and Atlantic influence of northern Portugal.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process for 'O Caminho' combines ancient techniques with careful oak aging. Grapes are hand-harvested from vines over 25 years old and transported in small crates to prevent premature crushing. Fermentation begins spontaneously with indigenous yeasts. A portion of the grapes undergoes skin-contact fermentation ('curtimenta') for approximately seven days in clay amphorae, while the remainder ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for 10 months in used French oak barrels. To preserve its natural texture and complexity, the wine is bottled unfiltered and without the use of animal-derived fining agents.
