ABOUT THIS WINE
Petit Pittacum 2022 is a red wine from Bodegas Pittacum, located in the D.O. Bierzo region of Castilla y León, Spain. It is made exclusively from the Mencía grape, sourced from old vines, some around 90 years of age, cultivated on steep clay and slate soils. The region's mountainous terrain and Atlantic climate contribute to the wine's character. Bodegas Pittacum, founded in 1999 and now part of the Terras Gauda Group, focuses on producing refined Mencía wines that express the unique terroir of Bierzo.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Petit Pittacum 2022 is produced using hand-harvested grapes that are manually sorted. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks over about 15 days at around 25°C, employing punch-downs and pump-overs for controlled extraction. Following fermentation, the wine is typically aged for 3 months in oak barrels. Some winemaking practices emphasize organic farming and low intervention.
