ABOUT THIS WINE
Pio Cesare is a historic estate founded in 1881 by Cesare Pio. Located in Alba, Piedmont, the winery has been family-owned and operated for five generations. The Barbaresco 'Pio' is a classic-style blend of Nebbiolo sourced from family-owned vineyards in the prestigious communes of Treiso and Alba. This traditional approach of blending different vineyard sites highlights the classic, elegant, and balanced character of the Barbaresco appellation, rather than focusing on a single vineyard, maintaining a consistent house style that has defined the estate for over a century.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with skin contact for about 25 to 30 days at controlled temperatures. The wine is aged for approximately 30 months, primarily in large French and Slavonian oak casks (botti), along with a small portion in barriques for the first 12 months to add complexity and soften the tannins before bottling.
