ABOUT THIS WINE
Kolónia 52's Plazma 2023 is a white wine blend from the Balaton region of Hungary, specifically from the volcanic slopes of Szent György-hegy. It is composed of four indigenous Hungarian grape varieties: Furmint, Hárslevelű, Welschriesling, and Juhfark. The wine is produced using skin-contact maceration, a technique that imparts a unique character. The winery, Kolónia 52, was founded by Annamária Török and Attila Francisti, who are dedicated to minimal intervention winemaking and expressing the terroir of their volcanic vineyard sites. The name 'Plazma' is a nod to the four grape varieties used in its creation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Kolónia 52's Plazma 2023 is crafted through a multi-faceted approach. The Furmint, Hárslevelű, and Welschriesling grapes undergo five days of skin fermentation separately, while the Juhfark is direct pressed. All grapes are spontaneously fermented. Following fermentation, the wine is aged sur-lie for eight months in 600L and 400L oak barrels. The wine is bottled unfiltered and unfined, with no added sulfur. The grapes are organically farmed, reflecting the winery's commitment to sustainable practices.
