ABOUT THIS WINE
Poderi Sanguineto I e II is an artisanal estate located in the Sanguineto area of Montepulciano, Tuscany, managed by Dora Forsoni and Patrizia Castiglioni. The name Sanguineto, meaning 'place of blood,' traces back to historic battles fought on these hills. Dora Forsoni is a fiercely independent winemaker who performs all vineyard operations entirely by hand. The estate operates under a traditional philosophy of 'one wine, three expressions,' where all red grapes are harvested together and later separated into Rosso di Montepulciano, Vino Nobile, and Vino Nobile Riserva based on their development during aging.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The winemaking process at Poderi Sanguineto I e II emphasizes minimal intervention. Grapes are harvested manually and undergo spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts in glass-lined cement and stainless steel tanks. Maceration on the skins lasts between 8 to 10 days, with twice-daily pump-overs. The wine is aged for approximately 12 months in large, neutral Slavonian and French oak casks (botti) ranging from 18 to 30 hectoliters. It is filtered but unfined, and bottled with minimal added sulfur.
