ABOUT THIS WINE

This wine is a blend primarily of Sauvignon Blanc, complemented by Vermentino, Viognier, Verdicchio, and Semillon. The estate's 'Poggio alle Gazze' vineyard, known for its Mediterranean breezes and volcanic soil, contributes to the wine's character. The 2022 vintage experienced drought stress followed by beneficial September weather, resulting in concentrated fruit and balanced acidity. WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Poggio alle Gazze dell'Ornellaia 2022 begins with meticulous selection of hand-picked grapes, which are then whole-cluster pressed. The resulting musts are fermented in a combination of new and used barriques, stainless steel tanks, and concrete vats at temperatures not exceeding 22°C. Malolactic fermentation is avoided. The wine then undergoes six months of aging on its lees with bâtonnage, followed by 12 months of bottle refinement before release. Farming practices are noted as being 'close to nature'.
