ABOUT THIS WINE
Pouilly Fumé 'Magma' from Domaine de la Croisée is a dry white wine from the AOC Pouilly-Fumé appellation in the Loire Valley. The wine's name, 'Magma,' is inspired by the flinty soils of the estate, which contribute a distinctive smoky-mineral character. Domaine de la Croisée was established in 2019 by Nolwenn and Matthieu Maudry, who are dedicated to restoring their 8.5-hectare estate with a focus on organic farming. The vineyard soils are a blend of Kimmeridgian marl, sand, and limestone, with some sources also mentioning silex. The 2022 vintage benefited from a sunny growing season, resulting in a wine with good structure and freshness.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Pouilly Fumé 'Magma' is produced from 100% Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The grapes are harvested by machine at optimal ripeness, often during the night to maintain freshness. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks using indigenous yeasts, which contribute to the wine's character. Malolactic fermentation is completed. The wine is then aged, with typical Pouilly-Fumé aging potential extending for several years, allowing for development and integration.
