ABOUT THIS WINE
The Colesel Prato Scuro Brut is a white sparkling wine from the Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG appellation in Veneto, Italy, crafted from the Glera grape. Colesel Spumanti, established in 1949, is uniquely positioned as the only producer within the prestigious Cartizze micro-zone, a designation recognized as the 'Golden Pentagon' of Valdobbiadene. This family-run winery, currently led by Siro Bortolin and his sons, emphasizes a deep connection to their land and a generational commitment to expressing the purity and freshness of the Glera grape through traditional Italian sparkling winemaking methods. The estate cultivates 25 hectares of its own vineyards and manages an additional 80 hectares, processing approximately 12,000 quintals of grapes annually.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Colesel Prato Scuro Brut is produced using the Italian method (also known as the Charmat method), where the secondary fermentation, responsible for creating the wine's effervescence, takes place in large, pressurized stainless steel tanks. This technique is favored for preserving the fresh, fruity aromas characteristic of the Glera grape. Fermentation is carefully controlled at specific temperatures to maintain the desired aromatic profile. Following secondary fermentation, the wine may undergo a period of aging on its lees, a process that can contribute to the development of finer bubbles and added texture. Harvests are typically conducted by hand to ensure the selection of high-quality grapes, with the timing meticulously managed to achieve the perfect balance of acidity and ripeness.
