ABOUT THIS WINE
Quinta do Vallado, established in 1716, is one of the oldest and most historic estates in Portugal's Douro Valley. Once belonging to the legendary Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, a pioneer of modern Douro viticulture, the estate remains family-owned by her descendants. While historically famous for Port wines, the estate became a pioneer of dry table wines in the 1990s as a founding member of the 'Douro Boys' consortium. 'Prima' was created to challenge the traditional Portuguese perception of Moscatel Galego, proving that this highly aromatic grape could produce an exceptional, bone-dry still white wine rather than just sweet dessert styles.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes are hand-harvested from three distinct estate parcels in the Baixo Corgo sub-region, including an old-vine plot averaging over 50 years of age. Vinification follows the traditional 'bica aberta' (open spout) system with no skin contact prior to pressing. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats for nearly a month at 14ºC to 16ºC to preserve the delicate volatile aromatics. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for 3 months in stainless steel vats before bottling, completely avoiding oak contact to maintain its crisp, fresh, and mineral-driven character.
