ABOUT THIS WINE
Protos Verdejo is a 100% Verdejo white wine from the D.O. Rueda in Spain, produced by Bodegas Protos. Founded in 1927, Bodegas Protos is a historic winery known for its pioneering approach. The Rueda region, with its high-altitude vineyards and stony soils, is ideal for cultivating Verdejo. The 2024 vintage benefited from a mild growing season, leading to balanced wines. A distinctive feature of this wine is its aging on fine lees ('Criado Sobre Lias Finas'), which contributes to its structure and complexity, alongside the grape's signature subtle bitter finish.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Protos Verdejo is crafted from 100% Verdejo grapes. The process begins with a cold skin-contact maceration for 4-5 hours at 10°C to extract aromatics. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures (13.5-14°C) to preserve freshness. Following fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 3 months on its fine lees ('Criado Sobre Lias Finas') in stainless steel tanks, a technique that enhances its body and complexity. The grapes are harvested mechanically at night to maintain optimal grape quality.
