ABOUT THIS WINE
Quercia al Poggio Chianti Classico is a red wine from Tuscany, Italy, produced by Fattoria Quercia al Poggio. This DOCG Chianti Classico is crafted primarily from Sangiovese, complemented by traditional native grapes such as Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Canaiolo, and Malvasia Nera. The estate is an ancient rural property situated in Barberino Tavarnelle, with vineyards located on a hill at approximately 400 meters above sea level. The Rossi family acquired the estate in 1997 and has focused on restoring its vineyards and facilities, emphasizing a deep connection to the land and viewing their wine as a narrative of dedication and heritage. The 2021 vintage benefited from regular weather, with spring rains and significant diurnal temperature variations in late summer aiding fruit maturation.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Quercia al Poggio Chianti Classico is produced using traditional winemaking methods. Grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled steel and cement tanks, with a maceration period of 10 days. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in large, used French oak barrels. The wine is then aged for approximately 18 months, initially in large oak barrels (27 hl and 5 hl) and subsequently in second passage barriques. The harvest is conducted by hand.
