ABOUT THIS WINE
Quinta da Gricha Vintage Port 2018 is a fortified wine from Churchill Graham, produced in the Douro region of Portugal. The grapes are sourced from the Quinta da Gricha estate, a Grade A vineyard with vines averaging over 50 years old, located in the Cima Corgo sub-region. The 2018 vintage was characterized by challenging climatic conditions, leading to a focus on Single Quinta Vintage Ports. Churchill's was founded by Johnny Graham, who sought to create a distinctive Port style by combining traditional winemaking with his personal approach. The Quinta da Gricha estate plays a central role in their Vintage Port production.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The production of Quinta da Gricha Vintage Port 2018 begins with hand-picked grapes from the Quinta da Gricha estate. Traditional methods include foot-treading in granite lagares, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks using native yeasts. The wine is initially aged for six months in large wooden vats ('tonéis') at the estate before being transferred to stainless steel tanks in Vila Nova de Gaia for further maturation. The 2018 vintage was influenced by challenging weather conditions, leading to a focus on Single Quinta Vintage Ports.
