ABOUT THIS WINE
Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa 2019 is a distinguished red wine from the Douro Demarcated Region of Portugal, produced by Quinta do Crasto. This wine is a single-vineyard expression, sourced exclusively from Vinha Maria Teresa, a plot of centenary vines over 100 years old. The vineyard is notable for its field blend of over 50 different grape varieties. The wine is produced only in exceptional years and in strictly limited quantities, serving as a tribute to Maria Teresa, the first grandchild of Constantino de Almeida, the founder of Quinta do Crasto. Quinta do Crasto itself is one of the oldest winemaking estates in the Douro, managed by the Roquette family, who combine tradition with modern winemaking techniques.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
Grapes for Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa are transported in small boxes and meticulously sorted before being completely destemmed. The traditional method of treading grapes in a lagar is employed, followed by the transfer of the juice to temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation. A gentle pressing follows fermentation. The wine then undergoes aging for approximately 20 months in 100% new oak barrels, comprising 90% French oak and 10% American oak. The final wine is a selection from the finest barrels.
