ABOUT THIS WINE
The Quinta do Noval Colheita Port 2012 is a single-vintage Tawny Port from Portugal's Douro Valley. Produced by Quinta do Noval-Vinhos, S.A., a historic estate dating back to the early 18th century, this wine is a testament to their philosophy of purity and elegance. As a single-estate producer, Noval controls all aspects of its viticulture and winemaking. The 2012 vintage was shaped by a challenging weather year, with a dry winter, wet spring, and dry summer leading to reduced yields but concentrated fruit. This Colheita Port was aged in oak casks for approximately 15 years before being bottled in 2023, a process that allows for significant development and complexity.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The grapes for the Quinta do Noval Colheita Port 2012, a blend of traditional Portuguese varietals, were foot-trodden and fermented in traditional lagares at the Quinta. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in 640-liter oak barrels for approximately 15 years, a characteristic of the Colheita style. This extended aging period allows for the development of complex flavors and a smooth texture. The wine was bottled in 2023, preserving the distinct character of the 2012 vintage.
