ABOUT THIS WINE
The Graci Quota 1000 Barbabecchi 2019 is a red wine from the Terre Siciliane IGT, produced by Azienda Agricola Graci on the northeastern slope of Mount Etna. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 1,000 meters in Solicchiata, Castiglione di Sicilia, on volcanic soil. The wine is made predominantly from Nerello Mascalese, with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, from old, ungrafted vines. Azienda Agricola Graci was established in 2004 by Alberto Aiello Graci, who aims to create wines that authentically express the unique terroir of Etna. The winery utilizes a restored traditional wine-making structure known as a palmento.

WINE MAKING PROCESS
The Graci Quota 1000 Barbabecchi 2019 is produced using traditional red winemaking methods. Fermentation occurs in truncated cone oak vats with spontaneous fermentation, followed by a 25-day skin contact maceration. The wine then undergoes an extended aging process, typically 24 to 36 months in large oak barrels, with spontaneous malolactic fermentation. This is followed by a minimum of 12 months of bottle aging before release. The winemaking approach emphasizes minimal intervention to allow the character of the indigenous grapes and the volcanic terroir to express themselves.
